Training Courses

This course is taught by our team of electricians. These instructors focus on the different basic mathematical topics used in the work field. The instructors go over topics such as whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal fractions. For those interested in becoming electricians, they cover material that is on the math test. Due to their expertise, 95% of the students who took the Math Test passed and were accepted into Local 11 Electrical Union. 

During this course, the student will discuss the interrelationship of craft skills, construction industry stakeholders, and craft workers to the construction process and explain the interconnectedness of work processes in the progress of a construction job. 

During this course, you will review basic financial techniques to stay on track once you receive employment. You will go through a debt analysis and techniques to overcome debt. You will review budgeting and how maintaining a budget can be beneficial. You will review bank accounts, credit cards and so much more!

During this course, you will review the process of creating a professional resume. You review how to write the objective to quickly summarize your skills and how they make you qualified for the position.  You will also review how to adequately describe each of your experiences to fit the job description. 

During this course, you will learn the power of confidence and assertiveness. You will practice one on one interviews with the instructor among your peers. The instructor will provide you with key tips and tricks to prepare for your elevator pitch and ensure you exit the room with a job offer at hand. 

Our 30-Hour outreach course covers specific OSHA requirements as they apply to the construction industry and teaches safety awareness which helps in recognizing and reducing the risks of job site hazards. This interactive training is an orientation and covers safety and health hazards workers may face on construction work sites. Our course puts emphasis on hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention and is intended for supervisors or workers who have some safety responsibility.

An introduction to the requirements of OSHA’s permit-required confined space standard, 29 CFR 1910.146. It is designed for small employers or a designated representative (line supervisor or manager) with the responsibility to develop a permit space program.

The focus of this course is to identify, evaluate, and prevent or control fall hazards at construction sites. The course focuses on falls to a lower level not falls to the same level resulting from slips and falls. The target audience is the small construction employer, business owner, or manager who would like to obtain information about fall hazards found in the workplace. The training is also suitable for employees and employee representatives. Topics include identifying fall hazards, analyzing fall hazards, and preventing fall hazards as well as OSHA resources addressing fall hazards.

Every applicant must attend an information session prior to enrolling.  Attendance of a session does NOT secure the applicant a spot in the upcoming courses. Every student is evaluated to ensure they can and will succeed in the program. Every other Wednesday, we host an information session at our offices located in Lennox, CA.  

An introduction to the basic principles of blueprint reading and terminology. Emphasis will be placed on reading and interpreting blueprints. from the construction industry. Topics include lines, symbols, views, material, form and position, title blocks, sketching, features, and sections. 

In this course, the history of how the industries organizations have evolved from craft-based protective societies to local unions and building trades councils, to international unions and today’s North America’s Building Trades Unions is covered. Also the historical process building trades workers and their organizations have become the leading protectors of apprenticeship training, health and safety provisions on the job, collective bargaining rights, and prevailing wage laws.

Safety Attendant Training (Confined Space Training, Fall Protection, Safety Attendant, Bottle Watch, Fire Watch, General Labor). Prepares individuals to provide specific and limited safety support to craft workers, such as operators, welders and pipefitters etc. This course will cover the specific training requirements for these positions in accordance with state and federal requirements.

Requirements for establishing, maintaining and monitoring a respiratory protection program, including terminology, OSHA standards, NIOSH certification, and medical evaluation recommendations. Course highlights incorporate hands-on experience with respirator selection, qualitative fit testing, and the use of a large array of respiratory and support equipment for training.

During this course, you will go through a rigorous boot camp similar to the one you will go through if you choose to join Local 300 Labor's Union. This training is led by Michael Richardson who currently is the hiring manager at SKANSKA. You will learn how to carry planks, sandbags and much more. You will learn how to hammer in nails and finish the class with a small project. 

CPR and First Aid class meets OSHA workplace requirements and teaches you to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies for adults, how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), care for conscious and unconscious choking and First Aid including burns; cuts; head, neck and back injuries and more.

During this course, the instructor will explain the importance of a diverse workforce in the construction industry. Due to the lack of diversity within the construction industry, the industry has suffered greatly. Diversity of color, race, beliefs, and gender should not be discriminated against and in this course, you will learn techniques to become a culturally competent person. 
You will also be able to identify employment opportunity and non-discrimination rights in the workplace and
classroom.
